I share this my story with you to impress one thing upon your mind…No matter where you start in life, you can become a leader the moment you realize if  “it’s going to be, it’s up to you.”

To Lead, We Must Build Tomorrow’s Dreams Today

After spinning my wheels trying to make ends meet, I decided that if my life is going to get any better, it’s totally up to me. I wasn’t willing to sit around and make excuses why I can’t make it in America. No. Too many opportunities were floating around me. I saw too many evidences of people who achieve the impossible by pulling their own bootstraps.

I found out that everyone in America has access to the same information the so called lucky people have. Life isn’t a matter of chance, luck, destiny, or good fortune; it’s directly related to how much time we spend preparing ourselves. I decided to take control of my life—to be the captain of my soul and the master of my destiny.

First, I needed to learn English. I bought a dictionary and a grammar book. Every day I would write three to four words on my hands. And at the end of the week I would review my words. I paid very close attention to others speaking.

I noticed how they’d make the verbs agree with the nouns. Many times I would pronounce a word wrong and people would laugh at me. I was embarrassed, but I kept making mistakes until I got it right.

As soon as I was able to understand English, I started reading religiously. I became a bookworm. I read hundreds of books about personal development. Until today, I am like a vacuum cleaner; I am constantly absorbing new information. Soon, the quality and the richness of my life began to improve so far beyond my wildest dreams it amazed even me.
